The AP Unit Trust allows clients to purchase units in a unit trust with special terms giving clients added protection.
T&F acts as the sole trustee and investment is managed by an independent New Zealand licenced fund manager.
Units may be withdrawn after a period of 2 years in order to attract protection under the International Trusts Act.
In the event a claim is made against a client, the client’s investment is removed from the fund by the trustee and re-settled into a separate trust.
Any litigation against the client is managed by T&F.
There are several advantages for the client in this structure, including minimising legal and accounting fees, reducing filing obligations, and of course increasing security of investment.
The unit trust does not provide the same level of protection as an individual settled trust and is not recommended for clients with substantial assets wanting to retain existing investments.
Minimum investment is $100,000.
